Clark Botanic Garden

Founded in 1969, Clark Botanic Garden is a 12-acre living museum and educational facility located in Long Island City, New York. We are dedicated to understanding and appreciating the world’s plant life through horticulture, education, and research. Collections at the garden include native spring wildflowers, conifers, roses, perennials, daylilies, wetland plants, rock garden plants, herbs, butterfly plants, medicinal plants, and over a dozen collections of particular plant families.  Clark Botanic Garden also has a beautiful gift shop. The Shop in the Garden has many new and beautiful items available, and it is open during all of the garden’s programs. Members of the Garden receive a 10% discount in the Shop.

Clark Botanic Garden in Long Island is proud to be listed as an official Daylily Garden by the American Hemerocallis Society. An AHS Display Garden is established to display the best daylily cultivars to the general public. Its purpose is to educate the visitor about modern daylilies and how they can be used beautifully and effectively in landscapes. There are only about 325 official Daylily Gardens in the United States.

Mission

Fanny Dwight Clark Memorial Garden, Inc. is a non-profit organization founded to support, enhance and preserve Clark Botanic Garden as a serene, tranquil oasis for all to enjoy the people of Long Island City, NYC. We develop and present educational programs for adults and children to appreciate the natural world better. All funds raised and donated to the Foundation are used for these purposes. Grenville Clark bequeathed these 12 acres in memory of his wife Fanny to remain a sanctuary for birds, plants, and visitors. Louisa Clark Spencer, daughter of Grenville and Fanny, was an active member of the Board.

The Name

We have been mixing our references to Clark Botanic Garden, confusing our many garden members. To be accurate, membership in The Fanny Dwight Clark Memorial Garden, Incorporated, means that you are supporting the ongoing financial support of the Clark Botanic Garden through the FDCMG, Inc. So, the corporation is an entity established as a not-for-profit to raise funds to preserve and protect the garden. Clark Botanic is the physical space of the park that is owned, operated, and maintained by the Town of North Hempstead. Both FDCMG, Inc. and TNH are collaborative partners in a historical Conservation Easement to protect the space in perpetuity.

Today, the auxiliary, which was once correctly identified as Clark Botanic Garden Auxiliary, is more correctly identified as the Auxiliary of the Fanny Dwight Clark Memorial Garden, Inc. So, while our shorthand reference may be Clark Garden, there are distinctions. We will no longer host a Facebook page for Clark Garden—visitors will have to go to the page maintained by the Town. EZ Bed Bug Exterminator Long Island
